Short Description:
In this workshop, doctors will practice hands-on Dr. David Alleman's Six Lessons Approach to Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry, a set of protocols that outline the six essential steps in a biomimetic restoration to ensure predictable, long-lasting outcomes. Under the guidance of Drs. David and Davey Alleman, doctors will learn start-to-finish, how to predictably treat caries and cracks, implement advanced adhesive techniques including immediate dentin sealing, resin coating, and deep margin elevation and complete the restoration with biomimetic prep design options and occlusal adjustment.
Learning objectives:
- Doctors will learn each step in completing a biomimetic restoration, including:
- Creating a crack- and caries-free peripheral seal zone
- Immediate dentin sealing and resin coating
- Managing C-factor stresses
- Direct onlay techniques
- Biomimetic occlusal adjustments
Long Description:
"An adhesive restoration... has many advantages over conventional non-adhesive restorative techniques except that it cannot yet be realized in a simple way." This quote from Bart Van Meerbeek highlights the crux of modern dentistry's transition to adhesive dentistry. A doctor can cut a tooth down for a crown in 30 minutes, but they irreversibly remove critical tooth structure that is essential for the tooth's long-term success. Or a doctor can restore a tooth in a way that lasts twice as long without sensitivity or the need for retreatment, but the techniques require an advanced understanding of adhesive principles.
In this workshop, doctors will practice hands-on Dr. David Alleman's Six Lessons Approach to Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry, a set of protocols that outline the six essential steps in a biomimetic restoration to ensure predictable, long lasting outcomes. Under the guidance of Drs. David and Davey Alleman, doctors will learn start-to-finish, how to predictably treat caries and cracks, implement advanced adhesive techniques including immediate dentin sealing, resin coating and deep margin elevation and complete the restoration with biomimetic prep design options and occlusal adjustment.
Doctors will also learn how biomimetic techniques can be applied to endodontically treated teeth to help support their remaining tooth structure and longevity. While an endodontic tooth can never be truly biomimetic, doctors will understand how these advanced adhesive protocols can benefit non-vital teeth.
